The Illinois State Fair is over, but another big event in central Illinois will keep hotels and motels busy: the Farm Progress Show, which hits Decatur Aug. 28-30.
“In 2019 and again in 2021, we see about that 80 percent (occupancy) mark, so were seeing a major overflow from the Farm Progress Show every other year,” said Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau director Scott Dahl (pictured). “We are fortunate to be in proximity to Decatur that we see this overflow, and it’s a nice bump every other year.”
The Farm Progress Show, which is so large it creates backups on Interstate 72, alternates between Decatur and Boone, Iowa.
