A driver is dead after crashing into some trees around 2 a.m.

Springfield police say the vehicle went off the 1300 block of East Lake Shore Drive, and that the Sangamon County coroner will pick up the investigation from here. The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Cameron Yates of Springfield.
