After dedicating more than 40 years to law enforcement and keeping Logan County safe, Bob Rawlins is being remembered. Rawlins, a retired Lincoln Police Chief and Chief of Security at the Logan County Courthouse, died Tuesday after suffering a medical emergency while on duty at the courthouse,  according to WAND TV. He was 63.

Rawlins started with the Lincoln Police department in 1982. He was their first K-9 handler and was even known to dress as McGruff the Crime Dog for events. Rawlins was honored several times for his bravery and heroism including saving the lives of two children in a burning home in 1999.

Logan County Sheriff Mark Landers says “He was a shining light to many, touching everyone that saw his smile.”
