Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Hundreds of Girl Scouts rallied outside the Illinois State Capitol Friday morning to promote the organization and how scouting makes a difference. Sara Tate, director of program events and camp for the Girl Scouts, said the theme for this year’s Girl Scout Day is about being a changemaker and what the girls can do now to affect change in their communities.
“It’s a really fun event, because we have Girl Scouts from all over Illinois joining with other councils in an effort to promote democracy and understand government,” said Tate. An expo in the afternoon at the BOS Center provided the girls an opportunity to visit with changemakers in the community and earn badges.
