SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health  will hold a job fair for people seeking to apply for a number of open positions within the agency. The event will be held at the Illinois Department of Agriculture building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds, 801 E. Sangamon Avenue in Springfield, on Tuesday, April 9 from 11am to 4pm.

“Public health is one of the most important and rewarding lines of work available,” said IDPH Director Dr. Sameer Vohra. “There are many pathways into this exciting field, and there are no wrong doors into public health. We welcome anyone with an interest in public service to attend our job fair and learn about the wide variety of career opportunities available at the Illinois Department of Public Health.”

Staffers from each division within IDPH will be on hand to answer questions about their duties and the types of positions to be filled. Prospective candidates can leave their resume and will be able to sign up for email alerts to keep track of future openings. In addition, a career counselor from the Illinois Department of Central Management Services will be present to answer questions and assist participants with building a state job application profile. IDPH human resources staffers will be present to answer HR-related questions, and staffers from the Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT) will provide information on computer/information technology positions.

Among the open positions currently posted for IDPH are jobs in human resources, disease surveillance, project coordination, vital records, finance, grants, environmental health, administration, and more.
