Springfield, ILĀ  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – For the 29th time, members of the Illinois House and Senate met on softball diamond to decide who the real ‘heavy hitters’ of state politics truly are.

This year the game was played at Robin Roberts Stadium for the first time and a large and enthusiastic crowd was in attendance.

The spirit of bipartisanship was strong and several of the players and spectators talked about the importance of events such as this to build personal relationships

outside of the often-contentious political environment,

That is not to say both sides were not there to win. It was a hard-fought game with the Senate coming out strong with 6 runs in the first inning, but the House battled back

and held on to the coveted Capitol trophy. The game went into extra innings, Final score 14-13.

Organizers say they’ll be back at it again next year.
