The Rev. Jesse Jackson is stepping down as head of the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, the civil rights organization he founded.
Details are scarce as to the reasons the Chicago -based 81 year old is stepping down from the group.
The political activist and minister founded PUSH in 1971.
A spokesperson for his son, U.S. Rep. Jonathan Jackson, confirmed the long-time civil rights leader would be retiring from the organization.
