The coming snowstorm is coming into focus at the National Weather Service in Lincoln.
Meteorologist Ed Shimon said Tuesday afternoon Springfield should get about 2-4 inches, Decatur 3-6. Springfield is on the eastern edge of a Winter Weather Advisory, while Decatur is on the western edge of a Winter Storm Warning.
Shimon, who said the precipitation could begin as a wintry mix as early as tonight, said the worst of the storm should be in southeastern Illinois, with the worst conditions for Springfield coming between, say, 2 to 6 am Wednesday.
