A man was killed earlier this morning (Wed) when the flatbed pickup truck he was driving
attempted to cross a railroad crossing and collided with an oncoming train.

It happened around 8am at the 8700 Block of the Macoupin County Line Road in Virden.

The 66-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, A 31-year-old woman, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
