At a Wednesday luncheon sponsored by the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce newly-elected Springfield Mayor Misty Buscher spoke to a full house about the opportunities and challenges facing her administration.

The event was held at the downtown Abraham Lincoln Hotel and among the obstacles facing the city she referenced “that hotel across the street” meaning the Wyndham which is facing a slew of problems, financial and physical, that have resisted efforts to resolve.

She also spoke to her other concerns including EMT services, a new downtown parking lot, new fire trucks on order and stalled contract negotiations with unions.

The positives Busher talked about include a downtown beautification project, expansion of medical facilities in town and providing greater educational opportunities and technology to students.
