An over 60 by 20 foot mural depicting many vintage buses and trains as well as many significant buildings and people in the history of Sangamon County was unveiled Tuesday morning at a ceremony across from the under-construction Springfield-Sangamon County Transportation Hub.

State Senator Doris Turner as well as former Springfield mayor James Langfelder, both of whom were on the planning committee, were among the dignitaries in attendance.

The work by muralist Jared Bader took over 4 months to complete. He did get a little help in the final stages from art students at Lincoln Magnet School.

In addition to the various modes of mass transit the mural depicts many prominent people and places in the history of the county. People such as Lt. Col. Otis Duncan, banker John Bunn and Horace Mann founder Caroll Hall.
