It’s about to be Springfield High School’s turn to be turned inside out.
As the construction that’s remaking Lanphier High School is nearing a finish, architects told the District 186 school board Monday about the plans for Springfield High.
“There’s absolutely no way – no way! – this was going to happen without that one percent sales tax,” board president Micah Miller said of the countywide tax. “Not only is it happening, (the architects are) making it a reality. It is affordable. We can actually pay for this. We’re not getting the district in a bad position. This is all due to the generosity of the voters.”
The $126 million SHS project – which, among other things, will finally have conveniently located restrooms – begins soon. It’s part of the district-wide construction program “Our Schools, Our Future.”
