U.S. Representatices Nikki Budzinski and Mary Miller have sent a letter to the U.S. Postmaster raising concerns about the Postal Service’s plan to downsize the Springfield Processing and Distribution Center.
According to a news release, the plan could mean worse delivery rates and the relocation of dozens of jobs to the St. Louis area.
The letter is a bipartisan effort by Budzinski and Miller to push back against the Postal Service facility changes in Central and Southern Illinois.
In the letter, the Congresswomen pointed out that between July 1 and September 30th, 2023, Illinios District 2 was among the lowest on-time delivery rates for both 2-day and 3-to-5 day delivery options.
