Fortunately, new discoveries in cancer research continue to offer hope and better treatments options for patients, moving the mortality statistics in a positive direction.
Central Illinois residents can help support cancer research at an event this spring.
Southern Illinois University School of Medicine students are organizing Relay For Life on Saturday, April 13, at Sacred Heart-Griffin High School in Springfield.
Teams of walkers will be raising funds for the American Cancer Society’s research and programs to benefit patients. The afternoon gathering offers fresh air, exercise, camaraderie and prizes.
This is one of 2,500+ American Cancer Society Relay events staged around the country each year to support and celebrate survivors and caregivers.
Walkers are welcome from noon to 4 PM and will circle SH-G’s West Campus Track. Members of the community are encouraged to create teams and walk toward a cure. The Relay is open to participants of all ages. Cancer survivors are welcome to attend and walk for free.
