The Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office issued nearly 50 citations during the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” drunk-driving enforcement campaign.
The agency partnered with the Illinois Department of Transportation and law enforcement across the state for the initiative.
From Dec. 15 through Jan. 2, deputies issued 14 citations for seat belts, 18 for speeding, 2 for distracted driving, and 14 other citations for numerous offenses.
Sheriff Jack Campbell says “The ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ campaign helps law enforcement deal with the problem head-on. He says, If you’re under the influence, don’t get behind the wheel.”
