A 33-year-old man is recovering from a gunshot wound to his lower body after Springfield Police found him in the 11-hundred block of Fayette Avenue just after midnight Wednesday morning.

The man told police he was approached by a man in a ski mask who demanded money. The suspect, according to the victim, ran away after firing the shots. The victim was shot twice and was treated at HSHS St. John’s Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.  The case remains under investigation.
