The Central Illinois Foodbank in conjunction with SIU School of Medicine held a food giveaway Friday along with demonstrations on how to prepare inexpensive, easy to make and nutritious dishes the entire family will enjoy.
Dr. Dr. Stacy Satobia with SIU Medicine put down her stethoscope for the day and picked up her spatula to give demonstrations on a rolling kitchen cart at the Clear Lake Salvation Army.
She prepared potato pancakes, fruit kabobs and homemade applesauce for delighted onlookers including many young kids.
Volunteers packed dozens of boxes with healthy dairy and produce items including tomatoes, potatoes, watermelons, and carrots to assist hungry families.
