On the heels of a guilty verdict in the Lanphier High School stabbing case, District 186 Superintendent Jennifer Gill put the focus on social-emotional learning at Tuesday night’s board meeting. Gill says the district continues to work on combating violence.  She says “we don’t want any school to feel like they’re unsafe on any given day. ”  She adds that the district has seen a rise in the need for social-emotional support for students, and the schools have had an uptick in fighting and making poor choices with regard to social media.”  Gill is asking families to help the staff in addressing the issues so that what is happening after hours isn’t coming into the schools.
