With the teacher shortage continuing, could school kids arrive for the first day of class and not have a teacher? WTAX News asked assistant superintendent Nicole Nash Moody (pictured) that question after Monday’s District 186 board meeting.
“That might be the case; however, we have that not as much” these days, said Moody. “With our recruitment efforts in our district, we have been able to give several letters of intent, which means teachers that were student teachers or even come from a different district, we were able to guarantee them a job within our district even before the (2022-23) school year was out in many cases.”
The district has a job fair from 9 a.m. to noon Monday in the school board meeting room at 1900 W. Monroe St.
