Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Tuesday’s possible severe storms are expected in two waves, said meteorologist John Bumgardner of the National Weather Service in Lincoln.

Bumgardner said the second wave will be more likely for severe weather, including possible tornadoes.

The outlook as of Monday afternoon was for the stronger storms to be west of Interstate 55 and for the storms to peter out as the system makes its way past the interstate.

The weather service will have another briefing Tuesday, when the details should come more into focus.
