About 100 Dignitaries, union members, family and friends gathered at the AFL-CIO Plaza downtown to remember working men and women across the state who lost thier lives in workplace accidents.
An honor guard was on hand to present the colors before a rose laying ceremony on a bronze replica of the workers memorial being constructed.
Especially remembered was Greg Fields, a member of UA 137, who lost his life in an industrial accident at Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport. Many of this family members were there for the event.
Those on hand included Jane Flanagan, the director of the Illinois Dept of Labor, Tim Drea, president of the Illinois AFL-CIO, several legislators and aldermen and Mayor Langfelder.
