Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The President doesn’t want DEI. The state superintendent does. We asked superintendent Jennifer Gill about diversity, equity, and inclusion in District 186 schools.

“I think that providing students with what they need is essential,” responded Gill, “and making sure that we have a diverse staff that can serve the needs of our students in a community like ours is essential, but we do know that the most important thing we do every day is look at each individual student’s need and provide them with the supports that they need and we will continue to do so.”

Gill said she is awaiting direction from the state and will act accordingly.
