Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Sangamon County Coroner, Jim Allmon, has confirmed the death of two people involved in a car crash near the intersection of Illinois State Route 125 and Route 97, Saturday morning.

A 63 year-old man driving one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene. A 43 year-old woman driving the other vehicle was transported by EMS to Springfield Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead by hospital staff, shortly after her arrival.

Their identities are being withheld, pending next of kin notification. The deaths are under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Illinois State Police.
