(CAPITOL CITY NOW) – One lucky lottery player in Illinois has won just over $3.1 million. The ticket was purchased on Thursday at Komal Wine and Liquor on Chicago’s northwest side, not far from O’Hare Airport. The player hit the jackpot with the Fast Play game, Ultimate Diamond Jackpot.
“We are so happy for the winner and for our family business!” said Ashish Patel, owner of Komal Wine and Liquor. “We opened in 2015 and have become a popular convenience store in the neighborhood. In fact, all of our customers are locals who we see on a regular basis.”
Ashish Patel, owner of Komal Wine and Liquor, said, “While we have no idea who the winner is, I have a feeling we will know very soon. We know every customer who walks in the door, and they know each of us by name. I’m sure the winner will come into the store to share the news with us – and we can’t wait! We are so excited for them.” The store will receive just over $31,000, one percent of the prize amount. Patel told lottery officials he plants to reinvest the money back into the business.
The Illinois Lottery is encouraging the winner to write their name of the back of the ticket and keep it in a safe place until they are ready to claim the prize. The winner has one year from the drawing to claim the $3,188,104.
Ultimate Diamond Jackpot is an Illinois Lottery Fast Play progressive jackpot game. The jackpot begins at $75,000 and grows with each ticket sold statewide – in-store and online – until the jackpot is won.
