Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Abraham Lincoln’s financial records – actually, a replica of the “Lincoln Ledger,” will be on display at the state treasurer’s office in downtown Springfield, in the former Chase Bank building across Sixth Street from the Old State Capitol.

“One of the great things about being in this city is the ties to Abraham Lincoln wherever you look. The family ties – the families that have been here for generations. I remember meeting a gentleman when I first came here in the state Senate. He told me his name, and I said, that’s the same last name as Lincoln’s secretary. He said, yes, that is the same last name. He was a descendant of Lincoln’s secretary,” said treasurer Mike Frerichs.

“I just can’t say enough.”

Lincoln did his own banking at that location, then the Marine and Fire Insurance Company.

You will be able to see the ledger at the treasurer’s office during business hours.

Lincoln’s birthday is Wednesday.
