Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The Anti-Defamation League was formed right here in Illinois in 1913 to fight anti-Semitism but according to ADL’s David Goldenberg its mission is as important today as ever.
He led a Wednesday afternoon Blue Room Capitol news conference to talk about the latest report on the incidents of intolerance in Illinois called The State of Hate.
It outlines reports of ‘hate, extremism, and terrorism’ touching multiple communities, 1054 all told including 588 incidents involving White Supremacy propaganda being spread, 9 WS events, 19 anti-LGBTQ incidents, 3 terrorist attacks and 73 incidents that touched many groups because of race, creed or color.
Goldenberg is asking for greater police training to identify, thwart and prosecute such incidents. He also wants to see a state-wide task force formed to better monitor and respond to attacks against minority communities.
