Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Community health organizations need manpower. Seniors want to rack up some volunteer hours or even get back into the workforce.
A new opportunity announced in Springfield Monday takes on those two points.
“AmeriCorps is not just a moment, it’s a movement,” said Courtney Geib (pictured, first from right), senior portfolio manager with AmeriCorps. “We ask Americans of all ages to get involved and make a positive difference in neighborhoods across the country.
“AmeriCorps Seniors is one of our signature programs, engaging volunteers 55 and better in a variety of assignments both to address needs in their communities and to keep themselves active.”
The training program is for Sangamon County area residents who can use the new skills to volunteer or to begin a retirement career. There is a June 21 deadline to apply here.
