Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The 400 block of East Adams Street reopened to traffic on Tuesday. The street had been closed since a fire in June 2024 destroyed buildings, which were later demolished.
On Monday, demolition equipment was cleared, and the City of Springfield said the underlying pavement was tested. The sidewalk on the north side of the street will remain closed until repairs are completed.
With the reopening, the Old Capitol Farmers Market will return to East Adams Street.
