Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Scott Rogers (pictured) is stepping into the chief utility engineer’s job at City Water, Light, and Power.

Mayor Misty Buscher made the announcement Tuesday that she is promoting the electric division manager into the spot being vacated by Doug Brown, who will become president and CEO of the Illinois Municipal Electric Agency.

“We still have a friend in the industry” in Brown, said Buscher.

“I just want to thank the mayor for the opportunity and the honor to represent CWLP as the chief utility engineer,” Rogers told aldermen Tuesday after Buscher introduced him as the new chief. “I look forward to working with all of you one-on-one. Most of you I have worked with you before in the past, anyway. I am just looking to continue the affordability, reliability, and sustainability for our customers.”

“Sounds like a commercial,” chimed in Ald. Lakeshia Purchase.

Brown’s retirement from the city is effective March 31.
