Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Now that Jeff Cox has been confirmed as the new Ward One alderman, the Springfield city clerk’s office has released the list of sixteen applicants for the job.

This follows a request by WTAX News under the Freedom of Information Act, a request which was denied at first because the process was not yet complete.

One candidate, Emily Earl, withdrew during the process.

Four candidates were ineligible because they do not reside in Ward One:

Janaia Allen (Ward Three)
Brian Forrester (Ward Three)
Jessica Covey (Ward Four)
Jerald Jacobs (Ward Six)

The remaining candidates, in the order provided by the clerk’s office:

Kimberly A. Wood
Frank W. McNeil
Daniel Chung
Leonard Naumovich
Jeff Cox
David Lee
Michael G. Knoedler
Rich W. Ingold
Nicolas Jacob
Cynthia J. Lamar
William McCarty

McNeil is a former alderman. McCarty is a former city budget director.

Cox, the mayor’s selection, was unanimously confirmed and sworn in Feb. 18.
