SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A co-author of a book on the changing role of a first lady in a presidential administration will be part of an upcoming discussion, to be hosted by the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum (ALPLM).
According to a news release, author Anita McBride will join ALPLM Executive Director Christina Schutt for a free discussion starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 27, in the museum’s Union Theatre. While free, advance registration to attend is required.
McBride co-wrote “Remember the First Ladies: The Legacies of America’s History-Making Women,” which she will sign copies of that night. McBride has co-written three such books while also director of the First Ladies Initiative at the Center for Congressional and Presidential Studies in the School of Public Affairs at American University. She also worked in The White House for several decades, including for President George W. Bush.

In addition to the talk, what the museum calls a “pop-up exhibit” featuring artifacts of Mary Lincoln from their collection will be on display.
