The community is invited to a meeting hosted by the U.S. Department of the Interior on Monday, June 10, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Union Baptist Church, 1405 E Monroe St.

This meeting is an opportunity for the Biden-Harris administration to hear directly from YOU about how we can commemorate the significant events of the Springfield Race Riot of 1908 and its impact on our nation’s history, including the founding of the NAACP.

The event will feature a speaking program with guests: Brenda Mallory, Chair of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, Shannon Estenoz, Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Fish and Wildlife and Parks.

After the program, the floor will be opened to hear from local community members. A sign-in sheet will be available at the door if you wish to offer a brief comment.

All Springfield residents are encouraged to attend and participate in the conversation.
