Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A 19-year-old Springfield man is dead as a result of an early Monday morning crash. Preliminary autopsy results, according to Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon, indicate Desmond Walls died from multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the crash at North Second and Calhoun Streets.

Sangamon County Sheriff Paula Crouch released dashcam video of the attempted traffic stop and crash scene on Tuesday.

 

 

Walls was transported from the scene by EMS to Springfield Memorial Hospital. He was pronounced dead by hospital staff on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

The death remains under investigation by the Sangamon County Coroner and the Illinois State Police.
