Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon released the identity of the 61-year-old man recovered from the Sangamon River Monday. Christopher Roberts of Springfield was pronounced dead at 1:45 p.m. after jumping from a bridge on Peoria Road and Sherman Boulevard. Roberts was reportedly involved in a suspected domestic violence incident nearby. Preliminary autopsy findings indicate the cause of death to be consistent with drowning. The case remains under investigation.
