Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Is somebody knocking on your door with a deal that sounds too good to be true? Do they say they are partnered with CWLP and there to help you save on your energy bill or some other savings offer? Don’t fall for the hype or high-pressure tactics. CWLP does not partner with any private companies for door-to-door sales, and some people may not be working for any company at all, but are just out to take advantage of you for money, access to your home, or some other scam.
Over the last few days, reports have come in of people going door to door saying they are partnered with CWLP for solar company sales. Other reports don’t appear to be from any legitimate company at all, with people showing up at a property claiming to offer a CWLP senior citizen discount and requesting access to residents’ homes.
The public should be wary of aggressive tactics and feel free not to answer the door. If answering the door, you may ask to see a copy of the solicitor’s peddler’s license, which is required in the City of Springfield for door-to-door sales. Those operating without a license can be reported to 217-788-8311 for not operating lawfully in the City of Springfield.
CWLP does offer a senior citizen discount, but that is never something they come to your front door to offer. All of the information on how to qualify and sign up for CWLP’s Senior Citizen Discount is here.
