Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) = We have a life saver in our midst. Jared Wools (pictured, right), a Springfield High School student, was at Capital Area Career Center when teacher Doug Dennis – “Mister D” – had a medical emergency.

“CACC is a great place to work. It’s also a pretty good place to have a stroke,” Doug Dennis (pictured, left) said to laughter at Monday’s school board meeting. “You have EMT classes, you have fire science guys. And a whole flock of nurses.”

Jared ran to get help and likely saved Mister D’s life, because “seconds matter” in a stroke. The school board honored him this week.
