Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A survey conducted by the Springfield Education Association regarding whether or not staff and faculty feel safe was one that the Superintendent of the school district says she has questions about.

District 186 Superintendent Jennifer Gill told the WTAX Newswatch she knew nothing about the survey being conducted, until it was presented at Monday night’s board meeting.

“I did not know that they were conducting the survey. I did not have a copy of the survey,” said Gill. “Nobody scheduled a meeting to discuss this with me or the incoming superintendent, so it was kind of dropped on us in the open board meeting last (Monday) night.”

Gill says in a district of more than 2,000 employees, while the results were about 50-50, only around ten percent chose to participate, which makes her have questions.

“I think speaking the truth is good, because we need to work on those issues together, said Gill. “I always find that just dropping data into a board meeting with no conversation and no data underneath it is concerning. “
