Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – The INB Businesses Affected by the Adams Family Fire Fund distributed its first round of checks Monday to help businesses, a nonprofit, and residents recovering from the fire at 413 E. Adams St. that destroyed the building, damaged surrounding structures and affected business in the area.
The fund, according to Downtown Springfield, Inc., has already brought in a little more than $18,000 in donations. A five-person volunteer committee reviewed the applications for assistance and determined who would receive a portion of the first payout of $15,750.
The following businesses and a nonprofit received a total of $9,750.
● Cafe Moxo
● Vegas Line LLC
● Electric Quill
● Cat’s Pyjamas Cafe
● Daisy Jane’s
● The Wakery
● Itty Bitty Fashion Trunk
● Diamond in the Rough Outreach Inc.
Twelve residents also received a $500 stipend each.
The disbursement is the first with another expected in early August, according to DSI. Donations will be accepted through July 26 at INB branch locations or via an online GoFundMe that deposits into the INB account.
In addition, DSI, Conn’s Hospitality, and the Kidzeum are partnering with Diamond in the Rough Outreach to replenish
the school supplies the nonprofit had collected that were ruined by water and smoke. Diamond in the Rough Outreach was
collecting these items for children at Compass 4 Kids and St. Patrick’s Catholic School.
Starting Tuesday, people may help replace these items by donating bookbags, notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, small staplers, and glue and dropping them off at Kidzeum and all Conn’s Hospitality Group properties including Obed & Isaac’s, 7th St. Cidery, the Inn at 835, Wm. Van’s Cafe and Trish & Mary’s.
One hundred percent of the funds collected through the fund will be distributed, according to DSI. Funds given to the INB fund are not considered a charitable contribution by the IRS
