Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – (1/9)  An arrest has been made in connection with the condo complex fire in Springfield that left dozens displaced. The Springfield Fire Department told our news partners at WAND TV, a resident was arrested on the scene Wednesday and is charged with arson and criminal damage to property. The person’s name has not been officially released.

(1/8) An early morning fire at a condo complex on Taylor Avenue in Springfield has left 15-20 residents displaced, according to WAND TV. Fire crews responded to the blaze around 5 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Springfield Fire Department.

Upon arrival, heavy fire was visible from the second floor. The fire had spread to the attic space of the three-story, multi-residential condo complex, which houses 36 units.

No injuries were reported, and there is no damage estimate at this time. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Crews remained on the scene for several hours.
