SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) – Illinois puts the “early” in early voting. While the election is Nov. 3, early voting starts in the state this coming Thursday, September 24.
“It’s game day,” said Sangamon County Clerk Don Gray. “We’ve got all kinds of poll booths, seven processing stations.”
Early voting in Sangamon County is at the election authority on 9th Street at the County Building on the first floor.
Mail ballots also go out Thursday. Gray says about 22,500 are stuffed in envelopes ready to be mailed.
Gray said he is breathing a lot easier after last weeks ruling by the Supreme Court blocking changes in mail ballot rules.
