Edwin E. Ridgeway, 91, of Kincaid, formerly of Mt. Auburn and Roby, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. Ed was born on March 20, 1933, in Mt. Auburn, IL., the son of Luther and Josephine (Prior) Ridgeway. He married Mary Lou Powers and they shared 66 years together before her passing in 2020.
After working for the Wabash railroad as a motor grader operator, Ed served in the US Army during the Korean war. He then went to work for Caterpillar for 30 years until he retired at the age of 50. After his retirement, Ed owned a tow truck, garbage truck, and sold car parts with his brother Bob. He was an avid fisherman his whole life.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents; son, David Ridgeway; brothers, Bob and Jim Ridgeway, sisters, Pauline Knowles and Doris Butler.
He is survived by his children, Debi Watson (companion Mark) from Tower Hill, Cindy Ridgeway (companion Hoy) of Bulpitt; grandchildren, Angie (Andy) Perry-Miller, Chaser (Jen) Watson, Amy Kidd (companion John), Nicole (Brett) Slater, Tabatha (Tyler) Matson, and Cassy and Dalton Ridgeway; great grandchildren, Austin Perry, Marissa Perry, Josie Watson, Brookelynn Cunitz, Allen and MacKenzie Goodman, Spencer Dinger, and Keeton Matson, Kya Matson, Bentley, Alena, and Rainey Ridgeway, and Dustyn and Skylar Blankenship; companion Irene Pierce, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank his wonderful caregivers, Susan, Trista, Jessie and Zac, as well as Quad County Home Health and HSHS Hospice, mainly Geri, Courtney, Mary and James, thank you all for caring for our dad.
Visitation for Ed will be held on Friday August 23, 2024 from 5:00-7:00PM at Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Mt. Auburn.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
