Major race results
Voters in Sangamon County approved a binding referendum to consolidate the office of Sangamon County Recorder into the county clerk’s office by a vote of 16,636 (67.49%) to 8,012 (32.51%).
In the race for the sub-district 1 seat on the District 186 School Board, Kristin Barnett (62.28%) defeated incumbent Anthony “Tony” Mares (37.72%).
Chatham voters approved a tax levy to provide funding for the Chatham Fire Protection District. The ballot measure was approved by a 57.29% to 42.71% margin.
Voters in Chatham also approved an increase to property taxes to fund repairs at the Chatham Public Library. The margin was 54.95% “yes” to 45.05% “no”.
In the race for Ball-Chatham School Board, the top four finishers were Brent Kulavic, Carrie Jeffries, Lisa Lipe and Joe Bolletta.
The top four finishers in the race for Capital Township Trustee were Bernadette Gordon, Kari Gardiner, Evan Brown and Ken Leonard.
Stacia Monroe came out victorious over Joseph Suerdieck by a margin of 80.56% to 19.44% for Rochester Village President.
In the race for Rochester School Board, the top three finishers were Henry Aaron Taft, Sarah Kerley and Kristin LaMontagne.
Top four finishers in the Riverton School Board race were Shannon Churchill, Leeann Kendall, Deana Schenk and Corie Pettit.
In the race for Jerome Village President, Micheal Lopez took 75.55% of the vote over competitor Rob Winchester’s 24.45%.
Chris Reid came out on top in the race for Pleasant Plains Village President. Reid defeated Jennifer Darnell by a margin of 60.77% to 39.23%.
