Erma Jean Sutton, age 59, of Springfield, IL departed this life on Sunday August 11, 2024, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital.

Erma was born December 17, 1964, in Bakersville, CA. She grew up in Springfield, IL and attended Lanphier High School. She had a strong passion for her friends and family. She loved to hang out and have a great time with friends and family. Her greatest attribute in life was loyalty to the people she loved. Once she was your friend you knew you had a friend for life who would always be there for you no matter what situation. She was a beautiful soul with a contagious smile and a laugh that would lighten up a room and uplift all around her.

She is proceeded in death by her mother Mary T. Sutton, her father Robert Granderson, and her long-life partner Larry Grice.

Erma is survived by her three children; Anthony Sutton of Springfield, IL, Terry Brown of Springfield, IL and Cornelius Brown of Springfield, IL; one brother; Ben R. Sutton of Springfield, IL; four step brothers and sisters; Dale, Bobby, Michael, and Rodney Granderson of Springfield and Alton, IL; step-mother; Marie Hampton of Springfield, IL; three daughters-in-law; Berta Brown, Michelle Jones, and Amber Bolen of Springfield, IL; one sister-in-law; Tracy Sutton of Springfield, IL; one aunt; Margie Hatchett-Moy and Erma’s special friend for life Tracy Deal of Springfield, IL. Erma has many grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loved ones who adored her.
