Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Local senior citizens who received coupons allowing them to shop at farmers’ markets can now go ahead and use them.
That’s according to the AgeLinc Area Agency on Aging for LincolnLand. The Illinois Department of Human Services asked the agency to not allow their use last week because of a technical glitch involving farmers getting paid when they accept a voucher.
AgeLinc now says seniors can use the coupons if they’ve received them, but they’re still barred from giving out any more for now.
This time, no word on if AgeLinc will be able to fully restart the program.
