Chatham, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A fifth child has died, more than a month after a fatal accident in Chatham.

Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon says Bradley Lund, 8, was pronounced dead early Monday morning at a Springfield hospital, where he had been staying after the crash outside the YNOT afterschool facility.  Four girls from ages seven to 18 had previously died.

The April 28th crash in Chatham occurred when, authorities believe, Marianne Akers, 44, had some sort of medical episode that led to her leaving Walnut Street and colliding with the YNOT building.  No criminal charges have been filed.

Lund was one of six other children who was injured after the crash.  Some of the other victims have already left the hospital.

Allmon says an investigation into Lund’s death continues.
