Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Springfield Firefighters have put out a blaze Sunday evening at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.
Our news partners at WAND-TV report the blaze was reported prior to 7 p.m. in a barn on on the property. Springfield Firefighters Local 37 said on social media that horses were being evacuated from the barn. It’s not clear how many horses were in the barn.
The union said when the fire broke out, they were preparing for “big water” needs, partly so surrounding structures could be protected.
It’s not believed anyone was hurt, and an official cause of the fire is not yet known.
