ILLIOPOLIS, IL (WAND) — On Sunday, a fire tore through a warehouse in Illiopolis.
The Illiopolis Fire Protection District said that crews reported to the building on North Mt. Pulaski Rd., just outside of town around 4:45 p.m. Heavy fire had taken over a continuous warehouse building that expanded around 400ft.
The fire spread rapidly due to strong winds and it took all firefighters from seven departments to bring it under control. The district estimates that 200,000 gallons of water were used to fight the fire.
The final crews cleared the scene around 10:45 p.m. Sunday. Despite the size of the flames, no injuries were reported at the scene.
Agencies that responded include: Illiopolis, Niantic, Buffalo, Mechanicsburg, Riverton, Mt. Auburn, Mt. Pulaski, Sangamon County Sheriff’s Office, Sangamon County Dispatch Center, Medics First Ambulance, and Ameren.
