Springfield, IL (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – A part of Springfield’s history was lost in the fire on East Adams Street Wednesday. President of Moving Pillsbury Forward Chris Richmond confirmed the Pillsburied exhibit housed in the building at 413 E. Adams was destroyed in the blaze.
The exhibit included documents and historical artifacts that had been recovered over the past two years from the Pillsbury factory. In addition, several pieces of art created with material salvaged from the factory were destroyed, according to Richmond.
“All of it is irreplaceable,” said Richmond, who confirmed three tons of artifacts and art were lost in the fire. The exhibit featured the work of artist and exhibit curator Robert Mazrim and the graffiti artist “Shock”.
New artwork that was to be a part of the planned reopening of the exhibit was also lost. Richmond states the project will continue. Charitable donations to support the art program are being accepted by Moving Pillsbury Forward.
