Springfield, IL  (CAPITOL CITY NOW) – Five officers with the Springfield Police Department were promoted Wednesday. Mayor Misty Buscher and Chief Ken Scarlette promoted Commander Joe Behl to Assistant Chief, Lieutenant Ryan Leach to Commander, Sergeant Jason Oldham to Lieutenant, and officers Kris Hughes and Lindzee Carpenter to Sergeant.

Additionally, 14 new officers were officially sworn in during a special ceremony at the Springfield Police Academy. Ten are new hires and four are lateral hires from other departments.
