DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — A former Macon County Sheriff’s Office correctional officer who was arrested in Decatur last month after police said he was driving under the influence has pleaded guilty under a plea agreement, according to court records.
James Davis, 46, pleaded guilty to Count II, a Class A misdemeanor. As part of the agreement, Count I was dismissed, court records show.
The court found Davis entered the plea knowingly, voluntarily and intelligently and that there was a factual basis for the plea.
Davis was sentenced to 12 months of conditional discharge under the usual rules and conditions. He is prohibited from using alcohol or illicit drugs. A financial sentencing order is also set to be filed, according to court records.
The Macon County Sheriff’s Office said Davis was fired April 6. He had worked for the department as a correctional officer since October 2000.
Decatur police arrested Davis shortly before midnight March 31 at the Circle K gas station on West Eldorado Street. The sheriff’s office said he was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting or obstructing a peace officer and aggravated battery to a peace officer.
Davis was taken to the Macon County Jail and later released with a notice to appear, police said.
